There has been no official announcement regarding this, but it seems like upcoming Heroes might be locked once Overwatch 2 releases. However, buying the Overwatch 2 Battle Pass will give you access to the Heroes themselves as they are released throughout the first 3 Seasons of content. ResetEra user Solidsnakejej found a screenshot that reveals a few things about the Battle Pass. You can look at it below: As you can see, Overwatch 2’s Battle Pass system will hold Mythic schemes and over 80 tiers of rewards. However, the most prominent feature of it is the fact that Season One Premium Battle Pass owners will automatically receive access to the latest hero Kiriko. As it was pointed out on the forum post discussing this, Kiriko is the first new support hero since Baptiste in February of 2019. Going to the product page now you’ll see that the description of the features available within the dubbed Overwatch 2 Watchpoint Pack has been changed; Taking out the bit announcing that the game will include access to the latest hero in the game. Here’s the updated description as per the game’s page: This might be information that is going to be revealed in the coming days by the Overwatch 2 development team. Now, this new payment model has also been met with some backlash as well because this essentially is announcing that Battle Pass players will essentially gain an advantage by having access to the latest characters earlier than other players. Of course, we won’t know much about the pricing model until Activision Blizzard makes an official announcement on it. Stay tuned for more details as they are released. Overwatch 2 will be available on October 4, 2022.
