Year-over-year revenue growth in PC gaming hardware and accessory categories was led by desktop computers, notebook computers, and PC microphones, increasing 38%, 29%, and 25%, respectively. PC microphones, monitors, and notebook computers experienced the highest unit volume growth, increasing 27%, 17%, and 16%, respectively. According to NPD’s Future of Technology forecast, 2022 PC gaming hardware and accessory revenue will see a 4% decline, a result of tremendously high volumes for the previous two years....

After it reported a major revenue shortfall yesterday, chip designer NVIDIA Corporation’s chief executive officer Mr. Jensen Huang has allegedly assured employees that they should not worry about their jobs. Speaking to Video Games Chronicle, Platinum CEO Atsushi Inaba admits they’re open to acquisition talks, provided they get to retain their creative freedom… Inaba doesn’t come right out and say it, but his answer certainly seems to hint they see Microsoft as their most likely buyer. Platinum auteur Hideki Kamiya recently made comments about wanting to finish the canceled Xbox One exclusive Scalebound with Microsoft, so Inaba isn’t the only one dropping hints in that direction....

In a new video shared on YouTube, eXtas1s, who proved to be quite reliable regarding Microsoft rumors in the past few months, revealed that the Japanese studio has approached Microsoft to publish and fund their next game. Sources did not say if Microsoft has agreed to the proposal, so we do not know if the two companies will collaborate again following the cancellation of Scalebound. PlatinumGames and Microsoft working together don’t sound too far-fetched, despite the already mentioned Scalebound fiasco....

The PlayStation 3 4.89 and PlayStation Vita 3.74 firmware updates, according to online reports, actually remove features from the two systems, as they disable account creation, remove some account management settings and require two-factor authentication to sign in. Accounts created on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, as well as via the PlayStation Network official website, can be used without any limitation on the classic Sony systems. While disappointing, the changes introduced to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita systems via the latest firmware updates aren’t exactly surprising....

SpaceX is developing the Starship next generation launch vehicle platform in Boca Chica, Texas, as it regularly transports both first and second stage rockets to its test platforms after building them in its facility dubbed ‘Starbase’. Once it is operational, Starship will be the largest rocket in the world in terms of both thrust generated and payload capacity, both of which are crucial metrics to fulfill SpaceX’s quest of sending humans to Mars and make humans an interplanetary species....
