Google to Take Advantage of Samsung’s 4nm Technology, the Same Process Which Forced Qualcomm to Jump Ship to TSMC With Google going back to Samsung for the second-generation Tensor SoC, DDaily reports that the upcoming silicon will be mass produced on the Korean giant’s 4nm process. The first-generation Tensor was made using Samsung’s 5nm architecture, so this will be considered an upgrade of sorts. Mass production is expected to start in June, according to the Korean publication, but there is no mention of when the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will officially launch....

Well-known hacker and dataminer Lance McDonald revealed on Twitter that he managed to get P.T. running on a non-jailbroken, fully updated PlayStation 5 console. Sniper Elite 5 is set in 1944 France, with the events taking place right around D-Day (itself placed in the middle of the main plot). The franchise’s main protagonist Karl Fairburne returns once more as part of a US Ranger Unit tasked with taking down searchlight posts and gathering information from some contacts within the French Resistance movement. The intel uncovered reveals a larger Nazi plan is afoot, though. Known only as Project Kraken, the plan involves a surprise attack on US soil that could change the outcome of D-Day and indeed, World War II as a whole....

The world of Sonic Frontiers brings to mind Zelda: Breath of the Wild, or perhaps the Xenoblade Chronicles games, with plenty of large structures to climb and even puzzles to solve. That said, this is still a Sonic game, as the blue hedgehog moves around at a nice clip (to the point it causes a bit of pop-in) and tons of classic elements – springboards, rails, balloons, ect. – are still scattered around the world....

Today, in the video game movie landscape, PlayStation Productions is slated to make a movie after the Gran Turismo series of racing games. Gran Turismo was originally released in 1997 on the PlayStation, and since then, the series has pushed nearly 86 million units for Sony, with the series’ latest venture released two months ago. The last time they did this was with this year’s Uncharted, starring Tom Holland as series protagonist Nathan Drake....

Space Exploration Technologies Corporation’s (SpaceX) Starship next generation launch vehicle system might carry out its orbital test flight next year according to a research paper from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The paper, part of NASA’s submission to the 73rd International Astronautical Congress set to start today in France, uses publicly available information to share details about NASA’s Artemis program. Starship will play a central role in Artemis, which marks NASA’s efforts to establish a permanent presence on the Moon....

The sequel was announced during Sony’s PlayStation showcase last year, but due to the absence of new details or a trailer, some seem to worry that the title won’t be ready for its planned release in 2023. The official Insomniac Games Twitter account has now responded to some of these concerns by stating that the PS5 title is still planned to release next year. In addition, the studio explained that showing off games requires effort, time, coordination, and resources – things that can also be used for development....

So, how easy will it be to do common things like swap the system’s SSD or battery? Well, it’s a mixed bag. The SSD looks like a snap, with only one screw to remove. On the other hand, the system’s L-shaped battery appears to be a real pain, as it’s held in tight with a ton of adhesives, and its close proximity to the system’s screen means you’re going to want to avoid using alcohol or any other solvents that might make removing it easier....

Based on Digital Foundry’s analysis, Stranger of Paradise seems to be a dated product on almost all fronts. Lighting is fairly archaic and seems to lack TAA or even much of the way of basic anti-aliasing, resulting in jaggies and rampant shimmering. Damningly, even on next-gen consoles, DF compares Stranger of Paradise to an Unreal Engine 3 game. A clumsy version of checkboard upscaling further hurts image quality on PS5 and Xbox Series X....
