Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) has now announced its earnings for the second quarter of 2022, broadly beating consensus expectations regarding its top-line and bottom-line metrics. Chip manufacturer Intel Corporation shared key details about its progress towards introducing new products, setting up new plants and targeting a new market at its investor day held today. Intel is the world’s largest chipmaker and is currently revamping its production technologies and capacity to dethrone the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) in the contract chip manufacturing sector and regain process technology leadership through using the latest chipmaking machines. At the event, Intel executives shared details about the company’s plans to procure the advanced machines, its capital spending policies to reflect lessons learned from the past and how it plans to shift its business model from designing and manufacturing its own chips to also manufacturing chips for other companies....

iPhone 14 Pro Storage to Start at 128GB Despite an Increase in Price It was previously reported by TrendForce that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 14 Pro models could start at an increased 256GB storage capacity. In contrast, Haitong International analyst Jeff Pu suggests that the forthcoming models will feature the same amount of storage capacity as the iPhone 13 models. Initially, the analyst agreed that the ‘Pro’ models will start at 256GB storage but added a 128GB option in his latest research notes....

Fans of Tony Stark may rejoice, however. Today, GiantBomb journalist Jeff Grubb revealed that Electronic Arts is developing another Marvel game in addition to Black Panther. Fellow insider Tom Henderson added that he heard it’s Iron Man indeed, although he hasn’t been able to scrounge much more information than that. Put this heavily under the “rumor” category for now and if I hear/see more information that’s concrete I’ll report on it properly....

Surprisingly, despite getting rid of the likes of Lara Croft, Square Enix has revealed that they still own the Just Cause IP and another game is in the works… It’s unclear exactly what Square Enix is talking about when they say a new Just Cause is in development. They may be talking about an all-new core entry in the franchise, or perhaps they’re just talking about Just Cause Mobile, which was announced in 2020 for a 2021 release, but later delayed to sometime this year....

AMD Ex-Chip Architect, Jim Keller Says He Worked on Zen 1, Zen 2, Zen 3 But K12 ARM CPU Was Cancelled By His Former Employer The ‘Future of Compute’ conference was held by the Department of Computer Science and Automation, Indian Institute of Science where Jim Keller gave a brief overview of the various projects he has worked on and the fundamentals of chip design. Jim states that while he was at AMD, he worked on Zen 1 and laid down the plans to do Zen 2 and Zen 3 which means that Zen 3 could probably be the last Jim Keller design we got from him as the latest Zen 4 and Zen 5 projects could be designed internally by a new team at AMD....

Digital numbers aren’t available for Nintendo games, but as reported by GamesIndustry.biz, the latest mainstream Pokémon entry was the biggest boxed release of the year in the UK, surpassing those of the previous biggest, FIFA 23, by 4%. In unit numbers, the launch of the Pokémon games for the Nintendo Switch is the second biggest launch in the series of all time, only behind Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.
